End of Summer

Last Saturday we attended our one and only Bee's Baseball game. Work had free tickets so I decided to take advanatage of it. The only problem was Justin and Eric had been working on Eric's garage all day long and didn't get done until just before the game started. We of course had to stop for dinner as well and after finding parking got to the game in the fourth inning. Eric and Justin were so tired they were falling asleep and the kids were not in the mood to be there either. We ended up leaving in the ninth and waiting for the fireworks by the car. We were only there for a short time but I had fun and hope to go too more games next year.

Working with so many little kids and their families I couldn't help but get in the school spirit. Justin's first day of school was last Wednesday. I woke up early to make him Mickey Mouse Pancakes and take the traditional first day picture. He survived his first three days of class and is excited about learning all about physics this semester.

We celebrated Eric, Jordan, Sam and Grandma's birthday's this weekend with the traditional cake and homemade ice cream. Jordan recieved Marble Works a game that as children we loved and played many times at grandma and grandpas. He along with his cousins were very excited. However they would have to wait for another day. I purchased this a little while ago to be the "cool" aunt for when I tend. I was able to pull it out Saturday when I watched Easton and just like when I was little he watched the marbles travel the same path over and over with the same excitment each time.

busy busy

I know that I have not blogged in a while. I have not really felt like it and I have been having fun doiing other things. Three weeks ago I finally talked Justin into taking the boat out even though gas is expensive. It was pretty cloudy and we ended up spending most of our time under a canopy eating food. We did manage to get some runs in and have a lot of fun overall. The next weekend we went camping at Deer Creek with Justin's dad and brothers family. We set up camp late thursday and spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday fishing in the morning and on the boat the rest of the day. I did fairly well on the wakeboard I am trying to cut harder so that I can get more air but it is scary if the water is not that good. I have also been working on trying to land a 180 from the jump. I should say not land it because I do that about 85% of the time it is not falling/letting go of the rope five seconds after I land it because I am scared of it hurting if I hold on. I was also pretty impressed that I was able to slolomn when I have not tried in about two years. We spent most of the days trying to get our nieces and nephews and my sister-in-law to do things on the boat. We were finally able to convince them that the tube is not so bad if you have a nice driver. We had been fishing in the cove just off our campsite without any success. The camp host told us to go by the rangers dock and we would have more luck. Saturday night we tried this and without much success. Heather caught a small fish but other than that we didn't have much luck. Typically when we go everyone else is catching fish and I never get a bite. We were packing up to go but I was determined to catch one. I was reeling in real slow and had a bite. I was so exicted that I finally caught one that I turned to look to make sure the family was seeing this and it fell off my line. They all laughed, number one rule make sure you have the fish off the hook or hang it over the dry ground. We had a lot of fun we both like camping we just need to find time to do it more often.

Lake Powell

Every year my family and extended family make the six hour trek to Lone Rock Beach at Lake powell. This year was no different from past years. We left way to late, drove for what seemed like forever but was really only six hours and listened to Phantom of the Opera.(one of grandmas and grandpas) We ended up at the beach around four rearing to jump in the water and shed the car smell we had all developed. The hitch this year was that the water is so high the sand is much softer and therefore not meant for cars without four wheel drive to be on. Even cars with four wheel drive were finding it difficult to navigate the loose sand. We spent most of the first day digging out vehicles and trying to set up camp. We finally called it a night and sat down to eat round eight. A typical day for our family is wake up when you can't stand to be in your tent anymore. Eat. Lather up. Boat trip. Lunch. Lather up some more. Nap/read. Boat trip. Swim to the boueys. Dinner. Wash your hair in the lake. Shed your swimsuit because you just can't stand it anymore. Tell your favorite Lake powell stories and finally join the contest to see who can see the most shooting stars, It may seem like we do a lot but the beauty of it is that we really don't I love being able to sit on the beach and relax as well as be out on the boat all day. I find having a good balance of layziness makes it better. This year we were on the beach a little more than usual due to some boat problems but we still had fun and I am glad that I went even if I left my husband to fend for himself at home.
