This year was a completely different experience because instead of basically living on the boat, I mostly stayed on the beach. Seth did pretty good for it being really hot and not a lot of relief. The biggest problem was trying to put him down for naps/bedtime because he is so used to being in quiet places that to have all those people around was different for him. He is also not a rock me to sleep baby so there was a lot of screaming and he would almost fall asleep and then be wakend by screaming children.  We were lucky though and my brother let us stay in his trailer so there was the option of putting seth in some air conditioning if needed.  The trip overall was another good year good weather all week and fun with family. This year however did prove to have a lot of minor injuries. The first injury was my brother eric he reinjured his knee when he came down off a jump and his leg just buckled under him.  I went next and attempted to go big or go home because I had been recieving criticism from Eric that I was being a baby on the board.  So what happens I jumped well but landed on my side. I bruised my side, burst my ear drum and lost my contact. There is nothing like losing some of your hearing everything sounded muffled and far away.  Later that day my cousin went and face planted really hard. Then Justin also face planted doing a jump 180 and bloodied his nose in the process.  Even with all the injuries we would go and do it all over again. I won't say that I didn't miss the freedom of having no child there but it was fun to see how Seth reacted to the whole experience. 

  

6 month photo shoot

Here are some pictures of Seth at 6 months. His stats are 19lbs 13oz 27" long. He was being a little stink and wouldn't give us his glamour smile even though he had Justin, Tasia, Andrew and I all acting like total idiots, oh well he is still super cute.  Thanks Taisa for taking the pictures you did an awesome job.

Sitting up opens up a whole new world

Seth is growing way too fast. I can't keep up with everything that he is doing. In the last couple of weeks he has had his two bottom teeth come in. He was ornery for the first tooth but the second one didn't seem to affect him as much. Luckily he didn't seem to wake up more than usual. He is also sitting independently now. We still have falls if something is too far out of reach or when he gets tired but he is doing great. He always loved his baths but I think now that he can sit and play he likes it even more. He also had is 6 month check-up a week ago. He is now 19lbs 13oz and 27.5 in long. We are so lucky that he has been a healthy boy and for the most part is always happy. This last weekend we tried out the baby backpack and Seth loved looking around at nature and didn't cry while he was in it. We only did short walks by brighton and solitude so we want to try out a full scale hike sometime soon. I hope we are strong enough to carry him.

Simple Moments

It is moments like these that make you really stop and realize how good your life is. I have to admit that I have had more of a complaining attitude about life in general lately and I am grateful that I was sent this simple reminder of how much I love my family.
Seth loves sitting on the porch and watching the cars go by. He was having a particularly bad day when Justin took him out to watch. I happened to walk past and thought how big my little boy looked sitting next to his dad and how fast he is growing up. I can't believe he is almost six months.

5 months

Some firsts

Well lets be honest everything Seth does is new to him but what is new to us is taking Seth with us on these outings. We have now taken Seth to two Real Salt Lake games. The first one was raining and very cold but Seth loved it seemed to stay warm in his coat. The second game was a cool spring evening but again he enjoyed looking around all night and Grandma was there to help entertain him. Justin has been very antsy to get the boat out and going and Saturday turned out to be the perfect day. I was kind of dragging my feet because I knew it was going to be a little more work getting Seth there and my brother was bringing his kids. Luckily Taisa and Andrew came to help out and we enjoyed a nice day at Utah Lake. I stayed behind with Zeke and Seth the first run and they were so funny checking each other out, wondering why the other one had the toy that they suddenly wanted and both of them were rolling into each other and almost ontop of each other all the time. Zeke has started scooting so that made for some fun times keeping him on the blanket and in the shade as well. I think Seth is right behind him. He pulls his little butt up and stares at the toys but he is not quite sure yet how to scoot it up to his arms and go forward. He mostly just ends up turning around in circles. Over memorial day weekend we played tough love and let Seth cry himself back to sleep instead of getting him. The first night he cried for two hours, second one hour and the third 45 minutes. Then he started sleeping through the night. With the new skill of rolling from his back to his stomach that he learned this last weekend he keeps rolling into the rails on his crib and that is waking him up again. More tough love and some long nights but I hope that we are continuting to make progress on the sleeping thing. I really appreciate it when he does. We are hoping to go camping sometime soon. We will see how that turns out.
